A tribal girl in her late teens was found dead in a tea garden near Salbari.

Upon arriving at work, tea garden workers found the dead body of the girl and immediately informed the police at Pradhan Nagar PS.

Initial investigations revealed nineteen year old girl, a resident of Dakhni Katta Champasari, left home for her knitting classes in Salbari. However, she did not return home.

Following preliminary investigation, the police stated that girl was first raped and then strangled to death. victim’s father has filed a First Incident Report (FIR).

Police has also recovered some cold drink bottles from the spot.

C.S. Lepcha, Siliguri Police Commissioner, confirmed the incident and said “Investigation is on full swing to arrest the culprits.”
